More choices of power supplies:
    • single (non-redundant)
    • dual redundant/hot-swap
    • triple redundant/hot-swap
    • DC (battery-power) 12/24/48V
We can supply 100,000-hour MTBF power-supplies for use with all 1u2u.net rackmount cases.

Better cooling:
1u2u.net cases are designed to keep hard-drives cool.   Overheating is one of the main reasons hard-drives fail prematurely.   Dash saw hard-drive problems while using other manufacturers' cases and determined that poor cooling design was a common problem.   We found other manufacturers routinely make the following cooling mistakes:
    • air inlets in both the front and rear, dissipating the desired airflow;
    • air vents in left- and right-sides where racks do not have assured airflow;
    • intake fans in front panel, bypassing hard drives;
    • low quality, sleeve-bearing fans with high failure rate;
Dash learned from its' competitors' mistakes and designed its' own line of cases.   Dash designed 1u2u.net products for its own use, based on this experience.

For instance, the 1u2u.net 4U server cases use two high-velocity centrifugal blowers rear-mounted to exhaust warm air alongside the power-supply's air exhaust.   These fans all combine to provide a partial vacuum within the case, which draws in cooling air across any drives mounted in the front panel.   The draft is so great that when we tested a hard drive mounted in a typical "mobil-rack" (a removable-drive bay with a small fan built-in,) we discovered that the drive temperature actually improved when we removed the small built-in fan.  The small fan was blocking our air flow more than it was moving air.   In several tests of hard drives mounted in our hardware vs. our competitors' hardware we've consistently found ours keeps hard drives substantially cooler.

Broader selection:
Today, chipset, motherboard and power-supply manufacturers offer a the widest range of components in the history of computers.  This should be good news, but for major manufacturers as big as Dell and HP this represents excessive complexity that they cannot afford to deal with.  Their large size means that every unique configuration requires a major commitment of time and resources.  So, they limit the number of configurations to a few which they hope will appeal to the most typical users.  This means that they will not be the first to have the latest technologies and products available for you to chose from, and the offerings they do have will be comparatively few and late to be offered.

1u2u.net gives you the advantages that accrue to a smaller, local supplier: we design and manufacture our chassis in Kansas City, and we can adapt to new options very quickly.  We don't require large volumes to justify a new configuration, we often do one-off jobs for our customers.  If you look at our website you'll see far more configurations and options than any of the major manufacturers offer, and we can do configurations that aren't shown on the website.  Indeed, our website is usually updated after the newest products are in production.  If you need a special configuration don't hesitate to call!
